    The Data Platform Engineer shall be responsible for maintaining current data platforms, troubleshooting issues, ensure data integrity, implement data platform changes, manage security, and provide on-call support.  Current data platforms include – SQL Server, Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Datawarehouse, Azure Data Lake, SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS), SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), and PowerBI.  Teams supported include:  Application Engineering, Data Engineering, Decision Science, and Business Analytics.
    
 
    
A successful candidate for this position must -

      
	
    • Have experience with cloud computing environments and applications (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
      • 
	
    • Have experience with setup, deployment and hardening of data-intensive environments using cloud-based database and storage technologies.
      • 
	
    • Have experience in creating pipelines to ingest and process structured and unstructured data sources into analytical platforms using batch processes that leverage cloud native toolset.
      • 
	
    • Be able to identify the right tools for the right job to deliver testable, maintainable, and modern data solutions.
      • 
	
    • Be comfortable with researching data questions, identify root causes, and interact closely with technical resources on various data related decisions.
      • 
	
    • Understand how to profile code, queries, and optimize performance.
      • 
	
    • Understand query performance optimization techniques and best practices.
      •

    Responsibilities and Duties
    


      
	
    • Promote data platform changes throughout environments in a controlled and consistent manner.
      • 
	
    • Review changes to code repositories and enforce compliance with coding standards.
      • 
	
    • Review outstanding issues to assure timely resolution.
      • 
	
    • Provides and designs tools to assist in the management of data platforms.
      • 
	
    • Works to provide a working model of our transaction processing environment for capacity assessment and planning.
      • 
	
    • Develops a methodology for the ongoing assessment of data platform performance and the identification of problem areas.
      • 
	
    • Develops a security scheme for the data platform environment, as well as assisting in disaster recovery, if necessary
      • 
	
    • Recognizes and identifies potential areas where existing policies and procedures require change, or where new ones need to be developed, especially regarding future business expansion.
      • 
	
    • Fulfills departmental requirements in terms of providing work coverage and administrative notification during periods of personnel illness, vacation, or education.
      • 
	
    • Performs at or above the enterprise’s Information Technology performance standards.
      • 
	
    • Special projects as requested.

    Qualifications
    


      
	
    • Bachelor’s degree in IT preferred. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted in lieu of degree.
      • 
	
    • 2+ years of experience of Microsoft SSIS package development.
      • 
	
    • 1 – 3 years of experience writing complex logic using SQL as part of ETL.
      • 
	
    • 1 – 3 years of experience using SQL effectively to perform complex data analysis and discovery.
      • 
	
    • 1 – 3 years of experience using Git and DevOps toolset.
      • 
	
    • 1 – 3 years of experience troubleshooting builds & deployments.
      • 
	
    • 2+ years of experience with data platforms hosted on Microsoft and/or Linux clusters.
      • 
	
    • Knowledge of administrating SQL Server within a public cloud provider.
      • 
	
    • Knowledge with CMD shell or PowerShell preferred.
      • 
	
    • Demonstrate strong organization skills and detail oriented.
      • 
	
    • Experience with large-scale, complex data environments.
      • 
	
    • Ability to self-motivate and meet deadlines.
      • 
	
    • Intense desire to learn.
